The new centre has been developed to improve access to advanced diagnostic imaging across the region, providing patients with faster, high-quality services closer to where they live.

The facility was officially opened by Alan Dillon, Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, and represents another significant step in Alliance Medical's ongoing commitment to investing in community-based healthcare services.

By increasing local access to advanced diagnostic imaging, the Castlebar centre will reduce the need for many patients to travel to Galway and other locations for routine scans. The additional capacity will support earlier diagnosis and help improve health outcomes for patients throughout the region.

Designed as a purpose-built outpatient facility, the centre offers MRI, CT, Ultrasound and X-ray services in a single location. The multi-modality approach combines leading imaging technology with experienced local clinical teams in a modern healthcare environment.

As part of its commitment to more sustainable healthcare, the centre has also introduced helium-free MRI technology, helping to reduce environmental impact while continuing to provide world-class imaging services for communities across Mayo.

Alliance Medical has provided diagnostic imaging services across the west of Ireland for many years through its established centres in Galway and Sligo. The opening of the Castlebar facility further extends that presence, bringing the organisation's expertise directly to patients and healthcare professionals in Mayo.

The centre is staffed by experienced radiographers and a dedicated administration team focused on delivering a positive patient experience. All scans are reported by local, Ireland-based, RCSI-accredited Consultant Radiologists. Supported by integrated digital healthcare systems, the service enables expert clinical reporting, efficient collaboration with referring clinicians and faster access to results.

Castlebar becomes the latest addition to Alliance Medical's network of more than 40 clinical locations across the island of Ireland, reinforcing the organisation's long-standing commitment to improving access to advanced diagnostic imaging services nationwide.
